100% of electricity used will be from renewable energy sources

Electricity used at Tokyu Snow Resort’s seven ski resorts, including Niseko, is now 100% renewable energy.

Electricity used at Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu is now 100% renewable energy. The gondolas, lifts, and restaurants all operate on renewable energy. We will continue to promote activities to reduce the burden on the environment and preserve powder snow for the future.

Electricity used at Tokyu Snow Resort’s seven ski resorts is now 100% renewable energy, thanks to the use of Tokyu Land’s renewable energy power plants. (Completed in December 2022). As a result, we have been able to reduce CO2 emissions(*1) by approximately 8,000 tons per year. This amount is equivalent to the CO2 emissions of approximately 4,000 average households (*2).

1. CO2 emissions: “Emission factors by electric utility (FY2021 results)” published by the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Using national average coefficient of CO2 emission of 435 g-CO2/kWh
2 Calculated based on the standard electricity consumption per household of 4,743 kW/year (from the Photovoltaic Power Generation Association of Japan’s “Indication Guidelines FY2022”).

Sustainability for Snow

Sustainability for Snow” is part of the ‘Morigurashi®’ initiative promoted by Tokyu Resorts & Stay to promote SDGs related to ski resorts and winter sports. We provide a variety of information to create opportunities for many people to become interested in the environment through the use of our ski resorts and to participate in these initiatives while having fun at the same time.
